Mental Health Crisis
If you or someone you know is facing a mental health crisis and are not able to cope or in control of the situation you or they're in, do get help by calling one of the following numbers.
If you have already been given a Crisis Line number from a health professional, call it.
If you're under the care of a mental health team and have a specific care plan that states who to contact when you need urgent care, follow this plan.
If your emergency includes suicidal thoughts with or without serious distress or if you are thinking of harming yourself, call 999
You can also walk into A&E if you need immediate help and are worried about your safety.
Non-Life-Threatening Urgent Medical Care
If you need urgent medical care but your condition is non-life threatening, call NHS Direct on 111 for England or 0845 46 47 for Wales.
How do I know when I or someone I know needs urgent medical care?
You or they have an existing mental health condition and your or their symptoms are getting worse
You or they are experiencing a mental health problem for the first time
If you have or someone you know have self-harmed (while non-life-threatening) or are talking or thinking about self-harming
Talk It Through
Samaritans offers a free phone service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year if you want to talk to someone in confidence, 116 123.
Saneline is a national mental health helpline providing information and support to people with mental health problems and those who support them.

Mind provides confidential mental health information services. It enables people to make informed choices and can advise of specific mental health problems as well as where to get help. Mind works in partnership with around 140 local Minds providing local mental health services.
Rethink Mental Illness Advice Line
RMI provides expert advice and information to people with mental health problems and those who care for them, as well as giving help to health professionals, employers and staff. RMI also runs services and groups across England.

Text the free text service 85258 if you need immediate help. It is run by volunteers who will respond to you as soon as possible. It is a 24 hour service which operates 7 days a week.
